Goombay Dance Band : The Goombay Dance Band is a German based band of the 1970s created by Oliver Bendt. The band is named after a small bay on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. Their music has a distinctive sound (somewhat similar to Boney M. and Ottawan), a mixture of Caribbean soca or calypso and western pop. The group built up a fan base across Europe and in total released some 15 singles between 1979 and 1985, within which time they enjoyed their greatest commercial success. They proved very popular in South Africa too, where "Sun of Jamaica" and "Aloha-Oe" topped the singles charts. "Seven Tears" also charted, while "Rain" and "Eldorado" also proved popular. Their most successful song was "Sun of Jamaica" which topped the German single charts for nine weeks in 1980 and sold 11 million copies, although it never reached the Top 40 in the UK. However, in 1982, their song "Seven Tears" topped the UK Singles Chart for three weeks and was also a million-seller. It was the 8th best selling single in the UK during 1982. "Sun of Jamaica" also reached the top of the German music charts in 1980 when performed under the title "Nie mehr allein sein" by singer Tony Holiday.

The Jam : The Jam were an English punk rock/mod revival band active during the late 1970s and early 1980s. While they shared the "angry young men" outlook and fast tempos of their punk rock contemporaries, The Jam wore neatly tailored suits rather than ripped clothes, and they incorporated a number of mainstream 1960s rock influences rather than rejecting them, placing The Jam at the forefront of the mod revival movement. They had 18 consecutive Top 40 singles in the United Kingdom, from their debut in 1977 to their breakup in December 1982, including four number one hits. As of 2007, "That's Entertainment" and "Just Who Is the 5 O'Clock Hero?" remained the best-selling import singles of all time in the UK. They released one live album and six studio albums, the last of which, The Gift, hit number one on the UK album charts. When the group split up, their first 15 singles were re-released and all placed within the top 100.

** Luigi Denza
1. Funiculi Funicula Luigi Denza : Luigi Denza (February 24, 1846, Castellammare di Stabia, Campania - January 26, 1922), was an Italian composer. Denza was born at Castellammare di Stabia, near Naples. He studied music under Saverio Mercadante and Paolo Serrao at the Naples Conservatory. Later, he moved to London and became a professor of singing at the Royal Academy of Music in 1898. Denza wrote an opera, Wallenstein, and hundreds of songs. The most popular of these was a collaboration with Peppino Turco, the Neapolitan song Funiculì, Funiculà, about the Vesuvius funicular. Other songs such as "Luna fedel", "Occhi di fata", and "Se" have been sung by Mario Lanza, Luciano Pavarotti, Carlo Bergonzi, Enrico Caruso and Ronan Tynan. Six years after Funiculì, Funiculà was composed, German composer Richard Strauss heard the song while on a tour of Italy. Thinking that it was a traditional Italian folk song, he later incorporated it into his Aus Italien symphony. To his great embarrassment, Strauss realised his mistake when an angry Denza filed a lawsuit against him. Denza won the lawsuit, and Strauss was forced to pay him a royalty fee every time the Aus Italien was performed in public. Luigi Denza died in 1922 in London.
